Experience an afternoon of magic as West Michigan Youth Ballet commemorates its tenth anniversary season with Swan Lake. Set to the music of Tchaikovsky, this is one of the most beloved and mesmerizing of the classical ballets. A timeless love story that mixes magic, tragedy and romance featuring Prince Siegfried and the lovely Odette, a princess turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer’s curse. Wear your favorite fairy tale attire and share in the excitement of the ballet!
Swan Lake has been choreographed and staged by Samantha Shelton, Laura Berman and WMYB Artistic Director Stephen Sanford. The collaboration of these artists brings more than 60 years of experience with the unique quality that all have danced Swan Lake in prestigious ballet companies across the country. Additionally, Shelton, Berman and Sanford have independently taught and choreographed for companies and schools both in Michigan and abroad, inspiring young dancers with a love of ballet to perform full length performances, enriching their dance experience while sustaining the arts in our local community.
WMYB features more than 60 dancers from across west Michigan, ages 8 through 18 gracing the stage in more than 130 gorgeous costumes! Visit our Boutique to purchase a special remembrance of this magical day. Concessions and flowers will also be available.
